first at all i started to compare those 2 faces... young one... and older one... young one has smile on his face... older doesn't...
you can see that this family doesn't have plenty of money. usualy kids who lives in such a environment doesn't realize that. so I think that photo shows excatly that.
The only thing it bothers me it's the light. Front person its sit in little too dars possition.
Great portrait. The light is interesting. Usually everybody would place the main motif into the light and leave the background dark. Because that would of course focus the viewer's attention to the main subject of the photo. But here it somehow works both ways. He's in front and in the dark, while the child is in the back and in the light. And the viewer focuses his attention on both. I like it a lot.
